Cycling
Cycling is a great activity that can be enjoyed by the very young to the not so very young. In fact many middle age adults are discovering the health and social benefits of cycling.
Recreational cycling doesn’t require any special athletic skill to start, and provides a low impact cardiovascular workout.
Riding with a group is a lot of fun. Joining a local cycling club is a great way to learn about cycling and make new friends that share some of your common interest.
Cycling is also a great stress reliever. You can jump on you bike and pedal your tensions into the blacktop or trail whichever you prefer.
Bike riding is an activity that you can start at your own pace and increase the intensity over time. You will be amazed at how a hill that felt like Mt Everest to you a few weeks will turn into a bump in the road after some consistent
cycling.
Bike riding is also a great family activity. Take a break from playing Grand Theft Auto on PS2 and pack a backpack and do a trail ride and picnic together.
There are tons of sponsored cycling events throughout the year in most communities. If your not sure where to find one, stop by a local bike shop and ask. The people that work in cycle shops are usually very passionate about cycling and would be happy to help you get started into the sport.
Don’t think that you’re too old to ride a bike again. You loved to do it as a kid and now not only will you have a great time, but you will be healthier also!
PS. Just a tip. A baseball card in the spokes is not considered cool.
